New Winner for my Art Doll

Today is a bitter sweet post!  I am sorry that Francis did not get back to me with her addy but I am also excited to let Jill B. know that she is the NEW WINNER of the doll. So Jill if you could please contact me with your address, I will get her mailed out to you asap!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Here is a peek at an assemblage I made a few months ago.  I call it "When Two Worlds Collide"  It's made from a cigar box, two picture frames and lots of bits and bobs I had laying around. Tons of fun to make and it's just weird enough to make me smile!

Today I am sharing some Art Dolls that I made and put up on my Etsy site.  I made these dolls(?) by gluing pieces of wood together and adding layers of stain, acrylic paint, paper, rub-n-buff, gel pens, paper clay and ribbon or lace.  I then added a coat of matte medium to the faces and hair, sanded the bases and aged them with distress inks. The taller ones stand approx. 3 3/4 inches and the base is 1 inch square. The shorter one is about 2 inches tall,  7/8 inch at the base and 1 1/8 inches at the head.

This is what they looked like after gluing the ball on top of the wood spool and painting or staining.  The hair is made of paper clay.  I found it necessary to wet the wood in order for the clay to stick! (let dry 24 hours) Then came the tedious task of painting those tiny faces.  I like painting dollhouse miniatures and I sculpt tiny birds and flowers out of polymer clay but for some reason I thought these little ladies were tough!  I guess I was being to particular, the quirky faces just seemed to add a folksy charm when all  was said and done.

That's all for now. Hope everyone is having a  creative day!! Thanks for looking!!!

Today I've been working on a couple of ATCs for a swap group.  The theme was fabric scraps so I thought I would try my hand at some mixed media on fabric.  Tons of fun and I like how they turned out.  The cream colored one is my fave!

Still playing with dolls!

I finished up a couple of Dottie Dolls for some Flickr friends and thought I'd share them here too.  These little cuties are so quick and easy and I do love making and trading them!

This one has Easter basket grass for hair. It was quit unruly and it took me a little while to sew it on and tie it up but it was worth it.  She really makes me smile.

I used basket filler, paper strips for this ones hair.  Much more manageable!  Still, I think it was effective.

I'm still hoping to get a few of you interested in an Art Doll swap.  Sherry has said that she's interested (thank you Sherry!) and I thought I would let you all know that I am open to any style of doll.  It doesn't have to be and Altered Art Doll...paper, fabric, wood, Dotties.  They're all fun!  If you're interested just leave a comment or e-mail me to let me know.

Off to play with some more dolls...Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!!!

I'm still kickin'

It's been a very long time since I posted anything but I have been creating and I thought it was about time I got my act together and shared a little of what I've been up to.

I have been working on a few things to offer as a giveaway here on the blog.  I will post some pics of the prizes in a few days. Anyone who is a follower of my blog will be eligible to win one of three prizes...so tell your friends and let me know who you invited! If your friend(s) becomes a follower, you will be entered twice for the drawings. Once for being a follower and once for inviting a friend. The more friends you invite (that become followers) the more chances you'll have to win!!

I've also been thinking about organizing an Art Doll swap.  If you are interested in joining in please leave a comment and let me know! I think we should have at least 3 participants.  A 6 - 7 inch doll in an altered art style is what I have in mind

Here are few pics of my recent Art Journal pages.

These first pages are in a 9" x 12" Canson mixed media journal. The face is a "paint over" using Prismacolor colored pencils. They work great for coloring over magazine images! No gesso needed!!!

I turned 50 in March and these pages were done on my birthday.  This one says "50 is the new 29"

Hubs bought me some Brera Acrylic paints for my birthday and I just had to try them out.  The top one was done on a wet page and the next one was done on a dry page.  Love the vibrant colors!!!

This one is in my Teesha Moore inspired journal.  It's a handmade journal with a watercolor type paper.  The face on this one was done with the Prismacolor colored pencils as well.

That's it for now. Thank you for stopping by!!!
